TATTERSHALL Castle is being 'blinged' up with an evocative exhibition combining history with contemporary art.
The House of Bling will see six international-standard artists let loose on the six floors of this 100 foot medieval brick tower - their brief being to create interesting installations relating to the castle's history.

Intricately woven gold cobwebs, an audio piece recounting the names of the people who signed the visitor book when the castle was first opened to the public in 1914 and a work based on medieval romantic imagery will be featured inside.

Outside, up and coming landscape designer Sarah Price, who has been chosen to work on the 2012 gardens for the Olympic Park, will be designing a living installation of grasses and wild flowers, reminiscent of the vegetation that may have once occupied the castle ruins.

Print and textile designer Linda Florence will be hand cutting a decorative carpet design into the circular lawn which will be best viewed from the top of the tower.

Tattershall Castle was built by Ralph Cromwell in the 15th century as a symbol of wealth and prowess with a dramatic height, designer fire places, double moats and plenty of luxury.

Curator Jane Greenfield described this exhibition as: "a piece of pure medieval bling."

She said: "It is a statement to show how opulent the castle's founder was. It is about bringing this historic castle to life in a modern way.
