VANDALS have torn down a tree in Silver Street, Coningsby, in the early hours of Monday morning.
A cage protecting the tree and a metal grid around its base were also damaged.

Café owner Penny Bowen said part of the grid was thrown into a nearby garden.

She said people and businesses in the street did not want to see the tree and a nearby bench replaced as they act as beacons for vandals.
Penny said: "We don't want it to be replaced and we want the bench removed."

Police are keen to trace further information regarding the damage or sightings of a group of youths in the area on Sunday night.

They were seen in the Fairfield area at about 9.30pm where a hedge was later found to be damaged.

Last weekend in Tattershall High Street a 20 foot length of wooden fence was pulled up and a concrete post outside Lloyds Bank in Coningsby was smashed.
