A MEMORIAL service was held on Sunday on the site of the wartime crash of Lancaster ED503.
This year the weather was kind and the service was very well attended.
The proceedings were followed by refreshments in Sibsey Village Hall.
The annual service takes place in a field at Sibsey Northlands where the bomber crashed in 1943 on its way to France.
Despite days of rescue efforts only the rear gunner's body was retrieved. The other five crew members remain interred with their bomber.

The Kohima inscription was recited by Mr Bert Barrack MBE, Vice President of the Royal British Legion Coningsby & Tattershall Branch.
