A BMX track, wildflower meadow and play area could soon start materialising in Coningsby.
This is the first phase of a massive project to create an outdoor adventure and leisure space on the 18 and a half acres Allan Barker Field.
Kathy Roberts, Coningsby Town Council clerk said: "There will be something for everyone. It is for the whole
community – youngsters, families, dog walkers. We want people to make good use of the field and the facilities."
The town council has been working with Groundwork Lincolnshire for around two years now on this project and a grant for £35,000 was obtained from Waste Recycling Environmental (WREN) to cover this stage of the project.
The local youth club and scouts will be helping to plant thousands of flower bulbs.
They have already planted around 500 trees on the site.
Everything will be designed around natural elements of the landscape such as mounds, trees and bushes.
Liz Ash from Groundwork Lincolnshire, said: "This will encourage imaginative play activities and a sense of adventure and wonder in the natural world."
It is also hoped the natural design will help encourage wildlife there such as butterflies, bugs and birds.
A decision on the start date for plans is due to be made at a town council meeting tonight, Wednesday.
Further plans, subject to planning permission from East Lindsey District Council, include a multi-use sports area which will cost between £75,000 and £100,000, a skate park and a kick wall.
Outdoor exercise equipment has also been purchased for a trim trail to encourage physical activity and the local youth club will get a sheltered area on site, again subject to planning permission.
