ENA Lincoln has retired from her post as Coningsby Charities Clerk after 43 years' service.
It was back in May 1965 that Ena took on the role and although she admits she has thoroughly enjoyed the job recently decided to retire.

Ena said she will miss the work and is pleased to hand over to Jackie Cottingham.
Coningsby Charities Clerk takes care of three village charities including the George Metham Charity - founded in 1685, the Robert Lawrence Charity - founded in 1721, and the Joseph Banks Charity - founded in 1726.
Money for the George Metham Charity came from the rental of buildings and land and was used to support the poor and widows.

In 1970 its remit was changed to help men in the parish aged over 60- years-old and in conditions of need, hardship or distress.

Horncastle haberdasher Robert Lawrence left a cottage and 12 acres that produced an annual income of £23. Interest from this money was used to buy coats for poor men on or before St Thomas' Day - in 1842 a total of 21 men were given coats.
Like the George Metham Charity, the Robert Lawrence Charity now helps men over 60 who are in need or suffering hardship.
The Joseph Banks Charity was set up to buy bread for the poor and this continued into the early 1970s.

Nowadays the money is available to people in Coningsby who are in need, hardship or distress.
