Town council delays decision on precept for the coming year

Horncastle Town Council has deferred a decision on its precept for the coming financial year - until a meeting later this month.

Councillor David Rourke suggested a delay to allow the council to discuss the proposed budget fully.

The meeting will take place on January 22 at 7.30pm at Stanhope Hall.

A recommendation had been made to ensure the precept for 2013/14 is the same as 2012/13.

It was also suggested a decision could not be made at last week’s town council meeting before the district council made a decision on their tax support scheme.

Town and District Coun Fiona Martin said: “It was difficult to make a decision on the town budget before the district council had decided on its own support scheme.”
