Promises to keep officers on the frontline
Lincolnshire police and crime commissioner candidate Alan Hardwick (Independent)
Lincolnshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner’s latest pledge is to maintain current police numbers and to keep police stations open.
Alan Hardwick, has said his key priorities include keeping police officer numbers at 1,100 and keeping police stations open where there is a “demonstrable operational or community need.”
Mr Hardwick also wants to introduce Volunteer Police Community Support Officers to work alongside special constables, which he says “could see a uniformed officer in every Lincolnshire community” and for all police vehicles involved in front line policing to be clearly marked.
Mr Hardwick said: “I can achieve all this against a background of continuing government austerity because I have carried out a thorough and far reaching review of expenditure that has involved every aspect of the way in which we police the county.
“Savings have been identified that I am confident will enable the entirety of my plan to be implemented effectively and also mean that I can set a budget and precept within government parameters.”
The Plan is available to download from the Commissioner’s website and the public are invited to give the Commissioner their views on his proposals, before they are formally submitted to the police and crime panel at the end of the month.
“I believe I have a Plan that will see crime reduce, deliver a fair deal for the people of Lincolnshire,” he added.
and provide police and services that are there when you need them,” added Mr Hardwick.
