Planners agree to Woodhall houses

Planners at East Lindsey District Council have given the green light for a residential development to be built in Woodhall Spa’s conservation area.

Councillors approved an application by Skegness-based Manorcrest Homes to build 22 homes - mostly terraced and semi-detached properties - on the site off Albany Road.

The committee heard residents had objected because of concerns about an increased risk of flooding - a worry echoed by Coun Robert Palmer.

He expressed doubts whether the issue of flooding had been resolved.

However, senior planner Chris Panton said: “We’ve gone up hill and down dale on the question of drainage and we think we’ve reached a solution.”

Coun Jill Makinson-Sanders expressed distaste over the proposed design for the rear of the properties, but committee chairman Coun Neil Cooper said he thought the scheme would blend well with the conservation area.

Parish councillors in Woodhall Spa supported the development, but expressed concerns over flooding and the potential loss of established trees on the site.
