Gala is a record breaking success

BARDNEY Gala was a runaway success with a record-breaking 120 competition entries.

The categories included art, craft, photography, baking and tray gardens.

They were not the only competitive events during the afternoon with the ever popular children’s races rewarding winners with gold medals.

Some intrepid mums and dads lined up in the hilarious parents’ races, including an event which saw competitors racing in giant foam feet.

Entries in the fancy dress contest were really imaginative and it was a treat to see the happy faces of the winning youngsters sporting their coloured rosettes.

The traditional novelty dog show was extended to include breed classes and an agility competition. Both events were well attended and ran into the evening.

Visitors were also entertained by a fantastic clown who performed in the centre ring and wandered around engaging children of all ages.

Handbell ringers, fun fair rides and pony rides kept the crowds entertained while there was a popular bar and barbecue.

There were several demonstrations along with various trade, craft and community stands. Another feature was a car boot sale.

Organisers are already discussing plans for 2013. Further information is available from www.BardneyGala.co.uk
